Miami scored eighty-six opening half scores against the Grizzlies
Miami Heat earned a overwhelming 146-114 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies in their first NBA game since player Terry Rozier was arrested over alleged illegal sports betting.
Portland Trail Blazers coach Billups was also detained as part of a extensive federal probe into sports betting. The two individuals deny the claims.
But, the Heat were not distracted as they recorded eighty-six opening half scores to be ahead of the Grizzlies by thirty-nine at halftime, the biggest halftime lead in the team's 37-year existence.
Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four scores and later said Terry had the support of the team.
"We stand behind him. Complete backing," Bam said. "You support him through and through. That's our brother ultimately."
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra added: "Terry is somebody who is very dear to everyone. He's had a beneficial influence on our locker room.
"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he faces this."
Portland also secured their initial match after the detentions, with Brazil-born Splitter stepping in as temporary head coach in Chauncey's non-attendance and leading the team to a decisive 139 to 119 win against the Warriors.
"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and how he coached," Splitter said. "Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones but we have a job to do."
Addressing the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.
"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the fairness of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."
Silver further said an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a match he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.
"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he continued.
"We investigated the matter and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, found no evidence.
"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the league office is unable to.
"So, we've been cooperating from that point. Naturally, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.
"Moreover two and a half years after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Rozier.
"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been suspended, and so it is a compromise in this case between protecting people's rights and investigating."
In other games, Lakers player Luka Doncic scored over forty points for the consecutive match in a row to begin the campaign.
Following scoring forty-three scores in a season-opening defeat to the Warriors, the European star achieved 49 scores - along with 11 rebounds and 8 passes - as the Lakers defeated the Timberwolves 128 to 110.
From Greece player Antetokounmpo also had a big night with 31 scores, twenty boards and seven assists in the Bucks' 122 to 116 victory over the Toronto Raptors.
Rockets were beaten 115 to 111 by the Pistons even with thirty-seven scores from Kevin Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had 29 points, 11 rebounds and nine rejections in the Spurs' extra-time victory against the Pelicans.
