Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
